McCluskieganj,
a township nestled amidst nature gets its name from Ernest Timothy McCluskie, the founder of the town. Its decent history is
chronicled in all encyclopedias. Chosen and developed by the British in the
year 1932 for its serenity and proximity to Ranchi city, the township even
today displays its old charm, the looming Saal
forests of Chhotanagpur, abundance of clean, natural
water, fresh air descending from the surrounding forest hills, the pleasant
climes and adequacy of basic infrastructure makes this like town a heavenly
abode, spared of the penalties of the urbanization and global warming. Isolated
yet easily approachable from Ranchi a city McCluskieganj is the ultimate,
natural environment congenial to the development of an educational hub; indeed
an “EDUCATION CITY”. And yet this potential is yet to be fully realized.
McCluskieganj
has 27 primary schools and 5 higher secondary schools within a radius of 30 kms. The students of McCluskieganj,
Khelari and nearby locations migrate to distant
places for their 11th and 12th class education, thus causing them
enormous financial and administrative discomforts. Not only is there a case for
quality education to the local children, this potential “educational city” also
holds promise to the children of other towns and cities aspiring to excel in
education and career, the instant endeavor at quality education by the
Gurusharan Education Society shall fill the vacuum in and around McCluskieganj,
in senior secondary education. This shall also help bring back the misguided
“Maoists” of the surrounding areas in the mainstream.
